You Know Who You Are

Chasing me through my dreams,
Haunting my days and darkening my nights
I feel I will never be free of you
So it is worth the fight
Your face is the one I always see
When a stab of memory comes back to me
I’ve run, I hide, kept it all inside
Still I can not conquer you
You defeat me every time
There is no place far enough that I could leave you behind
Vows of love, I know to be false
Feelings of pain to be felt all over again
The burn of your fingers on my skin
A memory I can’t describe, I don’t know
How to begin
I’ve asked you to go,
I’ve begged you to leave
You like to see me hurt,
You love to watch me bleed
I know I will never be free of you
Empowered by my darkness
You have proven among other things,
You are heartless
But I won’t stop running
And I can’t help but fight,
Giving up to your kind of pain can’t be right.
